How we compared: we read each vendor's public website and documentation on 26 October 2026 and list only what they state there. PatentAssist facts come from this site. Prices are as published on that date. Disclosure: PatentAssist makes one of the products compared.
DeepIP brings AI drafting and office action work into Microsoft Word, with one of the longest certification lists in the market. People look for alternatives when they need something it does not publish. That might be an EU hosting option, a price before the demo, a local or self-chosen model, or a tool that writes the whole first draft and the drawings rather than working inside a document. Here are six, three in Word and three in the browser.
Quick answer
To stay in Word, compare Patent Bots for US practice and ClaimMaster if you want to choose the model. To have the whole draft written, in four office formats with drawings and a published price, try PatentAssist. If EU hosting and certifications are hard requirements, shortlist Solve Intelligence and IPRally.
Who DeepIP suits
DeepIP suits firms and in-house teams that live in Word and want their templates and review habits to stay the same. It lists SOC 2 Type II, ISO 27001, ISO 42001, GDPR and § 203 StGB, which matters to German firms. It drafts office action responses with case-law citations and says it is trusted by more than 500 law firms and in-house patent teams.
Why teams look for a DeepIP alternative
- No EU hosting option stated
- DeepIP says it is deployed on Microsoft Azure but does not state an EU hosting or residency option. Teams whose clients require it look for a vendor that publishes one.
- Pricing and trial access
- Prices are on request, and the free trial starts with a form that does not accept personal email addresses. Solo practitioners and small firms often want a published price and a trial they can start at once.
- Assistant or full draft
- DeepIP works on the document you are writing and turns sketches or photos into line art. Some teams want a tool that produces the whole first draft and generates figures from the claims.
- Model control
- Firms with strict confidentiality rules sometimes want to run their own model or a local one, which a hosted add-in does not offer.
6 alternatives to DeepIP
1. PatentAssist.ai
Best for: Patent attorneys, firms, in-house teams and startups drafting for the USPTO, EPO, DPMA and IP India
PatentAssist is the browser alternative that writes the whole draft. It writes the claims first, then the description, abstract and figure descriptions, with drawings (Beta), in USPTO, EPO, DPMA (German) or IP India format, and gives you a .docx to finish in Word. It costs $29 or $90 a month with a 7-day self-serve trial. It is not a Word add-in, and it does not draft US or European office action responses (Indian FERs only, in beta). PatentAssist runs its AI on Azure OpenAI in EU regions but hosts the app and your files in Azure Central India. It relies on Azure's and AWS's SOC 2 and ISO 27001 certifications rather than holding its own.
2. Patent Bots
Best for: US practitioners who want proofreading and an AI drafting assistant in Word
Patent Bots is the nearest Word-based swap for US practice. It offers proofreading, office action tools that evaluate rejections and suggest amendments, USPTO forms and an AI assistant that drafts claims and suggests figures. It publishes $702 per person per year for individual practitioners at law firms and offers a two-week trial. All servers are in the United States, with SOC 2 Type II, and documents are not stored.
3. ClaimMaster
Best for: Proofreading, claim checks and USPTO forms inside Microsoft Word
ClaimMaster is the Word add-in for teams that want model control. It runs locally and sends drafting requests only to the LLM you configure, including Claude, Azure OpenAI or a local model. It costs $20 to $75 per user per month billed annually, with a 30-day trial. It assists with sections rather than writing a full draft, is built around USPTO practice, and leaves GDPR compliance with you.
4. Solve Intelligence
Best for: Firms that want drafting, prosecution and invalidity, FTO and infringement charts on one platform
Solve Intelligence is the browser platform for teams that want EU processing and the broadest scope. It covers drafting, office actions, prior art search, and invalidity, FTO and infringement charts. It states SOC 2 Type II and ISO 27001, generates formal drawings from scratch, sketches or CAD files, and is priced through a demo.

5. IPRally
Best for: Teams already using IPRally search who want drafting in the same app, in several European languages
IPRally offers dedicated EU and US cloud environments and states ISO 27001 and SOC 2 Type II. It drafts in eight languages including German, next to its AI prior art search. Drafting is new (October 2026), office actions are a prototype, and seats are sold annually after a demo.

PatentAssist publishes this guide and is one of the options. Details of other tools come from their own websites, checked 26 October 2026. Prices in US dollars as each vendor publishes them; "Pricing on request" means no price is public. Certifications and data locations are as each vendor states them, so ask for the certificate or DPA before you rely on it.
Where PatentAssist fits, and where it does not
PatentAssist is strongest when you draft for more than one office. One disclosure becomes a USPTO, EPO, DPMA (in German) or IP India application, with the claims written first and drawings and AI patent search in the same workspace. AI processing runs in Azure EU regions under a GDPR DPA, and prices in US dollars are on the website. It is not a litigation analytics tool, it is not a Word add-in, and it does not draft US or European office action responses. Its app and files are hosted in Azure Central India, as the sub-processor list shows, and the security page sets out what it is and is not certified for.
